New Road Farms was established by
DeCloet Ltd. in the winter of 2001. New
Road Farms primary objectives are as a
showcase for new DeCloet Ltd. equipment
and as a Research & Development site for
DeCloet innovations. New Road Farms
consists of 423 acres of cleared farm land.
130 acres of that is used for tobacco and
another 108 acres for beans. In the near
future New Road will also include a
number of acres of ginseng and will also
be increasing the acres of tobacco grown.
2002 marked the first tobacco growing
season on New Road Farms. The latest in
DeCloet harvesting and curing equipment
was used. This equipment included:
1) 24 cluster kilns
2) 1 dumpbox style automatic harvester
3) 1 loading system.
With this DeCloet equipment in place
New Road Farms was able to harvest 2
cluster kilns (approx. 3 standard kilns)
per day in 7 hours with only 5 laborers!
There is an open invitation to all tobacco growers or related parties to come and
see the farm operations at anytime.
